Did you “Take the Challenge” April 21 -  May 20?

ChangeTheWorld Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge is a four-week campaign running from April 21 to  May 20, 2013. This is a provincial initiative funded by the  Ministry of Citizenship  and Immigration in partnership with Ontario  Volunteer Centre Network.

If you are a young person who participated in this challenge or contributed hours to volunteering during this time period, be sure to report your volunteer hours to Pillar to be included in the local numbers.

If you attend Banting Secondary School, you can submit your hours to the Guidance Office to be included in Bantings challenge!

A great turn out for the event this year with 70 children and accompanying parents coming out to the 2013 Nor’West Optimist Bike Rodeo on Sunday May 5th at the Medway Arena!

A special thank you to the many volunteers, Police Auxiliary and Medics as well as Paul the bike medic!

Simply let the registration table know you are there to audition for the NW team. Remember to bring your music on an Ipod or mp3 player AND print/bring your Dynamic Dozen application: DD Audition Package

Income Tax Clinic

Thank youA special thank you to Bill Monnikendam and his team of tax clinic volunteers in supporting the 2013 tax clinic in March and April in collaboration with the London Public Library, NWLRC and Canada Revenue Agency. Bill and his team served 993 residents of the northwest neighbourhood with their taxes!

GET READY NORTHWEST YOUTH – We will be holding NW Dynamic Dozen Auditions for a spot on the youth flash mob team in a couple weeks!

12 youth 15-18 yrs old will be hired and PAID to dance and perform all summer long!

 Please join us at Banting Secondary School on Wednesday April 24th from 4pm (SHARP) – 9pm for auditions.

Bring your resume, application (see link below or email student@nwlrc.ca for application),

short 1-2 minute routine to perform and your music on an ipod or cell phone!

for the neighbourhood emergency food cupboard!

We welcome and appreciate all non-perishable food items, but are currently in particular need of:

  • rice
  • powdered milk
  • sugar
  • flour
  • canned vegetables and fruit

Donations are accepted at the resource centre located at 1225 Wonderland Rd N c/o Sherwood Forest Library from Monday to Friday 9:30am-11:30am or contact Heather at 519-471-8444 to make alternate arrangements.

The Northwest London Resource Centre, a registered charity and non-profit corporation located in the Sherwood Forest Mall (across from the library), is looking for board members. The NWLRC runs programs intended to help young people build skills, develop leadership abilities and have fun!
